YOUTUBE SEO – 4 EXTREMELY EASY OPTIMIZATION STEPS TO INCREASE YOUTUBE VIDEO RANKING IN 2019

Keyword research for SEO YouTube

The process of a YouTube SEO channel begins with keyword research for videos. Here’s how to find exact keywords for a video on YouTube.

The first step is to create a potential keyword list. Then I will help you find the best keywords from this list.

One of my favorite methods is to use YouTube’s Search Suggest feature. What you need to do is go to YouTube and type in any word or phrase. YouTube will also display a series of keywords related to the words you have just typed.

Simple, right?

The proposed words are great. These are the keywords that users (customers) often access on YouTube. So, it is unnecessary that you care whether these words are popular or not. Once YouTube has suggested it is 1000% reliable.

You can also watch videos that are hot in the same field and copy keywords that are optimized for this video. Keyword optimization is at the core of YouTube SEO tips. If a video has a lot of views, it’s likely that the video is optimizing exactly one popular keyword.

Find the most effective SEO YouTube keywords from the list

After you have a list of keywords, it’s time to choose the best keywords.

Especially if you want to optimize keywords with low competition. This is extremely important, especially when your channel does not have many subscribers. These will be the initial keywords to help you make money later when you build a YouTube channel to make money.

If you try to take risks and optimize highly competitive keywords, your video will be buried in the heap of YouTube search results.

Look for keywords that don’t have much competition. So, how to find them now? Scroll down to find out!

You just need to type your keywords and check the “About results” section. This figure represents the total number of videos available on YouTube on this topic. The higher the number, the more highly competitive the keyword. So, your goal is to have low “About results” keywords.

But how much is low?

This depends on the industry. I cannot tell you the exact number.

In short, you should focus on keywords with low competition in the industry.

For example, when searching “YouTube SEO“, up to 37,400,000 results appear. This is a terrible number.

So, if I’m just starting to make YouTube videos, I will try other keywords like “How to increase video rankings on YouTube.”

And this keyword has only 213,000 search results, meaning this keyword is much less competitive.

Tips: Find keywords with Google

Most views on YouTube come directly from the YouTube channel itself. But your video will be able to increase 2-5 times more views if you can compete on Google. From there, increase the ability to make money from your YouTube.

How?

Optimize your videos with keywords that appear in Google video search results.

If you search, you will see that Google only shows videos on search results with certain keywords. Unlike the front page, it usually outputs 10 web page results. For certain keywords, Google only dedicates part of the front page to the video.

Typically, Google will rank videos as keyword terms as follows:

  • Keywords like “how to” (how / how …): For example, how to bake moon cakes
  • Review article (review Pond’s cleanser)
  • Tutorial (how to install WordPress)
  • Content related to physique and sport (Cardio kickboxing – a form of health training combining elements of martial arts)
  • Comedy videos (cute animals)

Why should you note these?

If you optimize the video but the keyword does not appear in any video search results on Google, you only get traffic from YouTube. But if you optimize video keywords, you’ll get direct traffic from the front page of Google to your videos.

The question is:

How to find these magical keywords?

How to find detailed keywords

You just need to type in Google one of the keywords you just found earlier. Then see if that keyword appears in any YouTube video results. Too simple.

After finding the video keyword, look at the search volume for that keyword. If you go to compete for Google keywords only 20 searches per month, it is not worth it.

So, make sure the target keyword has at least 100-1000 searches/month on Google. Alternatively, you can use Google Keyword Planner to find targeted keywords.

Why must be 500 searches per month?

If you can rate this video on Google, there will be many searchers clicking on your video on the results page. That means you get lots of high-quality traffic to videos and then to other videos on your site.

The following is a practical example:

A channel is a sharing channel specializing in SEO, so I will find video keywords such as “keyword research”, “how to build backlinks”, “SEO guides”, … And the keyword “research from lock” has 3 YouTube results on Google.

And of course, this keyword exceeds 500 searches monthly.

This will be a potential keyword for creating related videos. The truth is, I did.

Increase high retention to optimize the YouTube channel and increase the ability to earn YouTube money

The main is the video has the ability to hold viewers.

The truth is, if you want to rank your videos, it’s not just about getting users to visit your YouTube channel. You need to keep viewers watching the video. The longer you watch YouTube videos, the better.

The viewing time of users (customers) when watching your video is called Audience Retention.

And YouTube once stated:

“Audience Retention is a huge influence on rankings.”

Specifically, YouTube also says the following:

“Your goal is to keep audience retention as close to 100% as possible. Because this means users stay watching your entire video. And videos with consistently high audience retention and watch times will have a better chance of appearing more frequently in YouTube search and recommendations.”

In other words, the longer your videos retain customers on YouTube, the more likely YouTube will rank your videos on search results.

After all, YouTube as well as search engines want people to stay on the page to click on ads. And if you help YouTube accomplish this goal, they will support you in promoting the video.

The question here is:

How to create videos that keep users engaged interactively?

In other words, how to create high-retention videos?

Here are 3 simple steps drawn from my own “blood” experience.

As you can see, high-retention videos do not require a good camera or microphone. If your video is valuable and interesting, you have succeeded.

5 other important factors that affect YouTube rankings

    ♥    Comment below the video

If someone leaves a comment, this is a strong signal for YouTube:

Viewers are really interested (or at least interact with them), get to know your videos.

In fact, recently, when I analyzed 1.3 million YouTube search results, I found that the comments section positively affected the ranking of the video. That is the effective SEO YouTube effect from my optimization, including regularly responding to comments from viewers.

So, try to encourage viewers to comment on the video. And please respond regularly to those comments.

♥    Subscribe after you watch the video

If someone has finished watching the video and immediately subscribed to your YouTube channel, this is a good signal. It shows you have a great video. The best way to get more YouTube subscribers is to get users to subscribe.

I observed that if you ask your users (customers) to register at the end of the video, your monthly subscriptions will increase significantly.

How many subscribers do your video channel currently have?

    ♥    Share Video

How many people share your videos on social networking sites like Instagram and Facebook?

Think of this: Do people tend to never share bad videos?

So, when YouTube sees someone sharing your video, YouTube will assume that the quality of your content is excellent. From there increase the rank for your video.

So, link your YouTube video to other social networking sites (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, …) to help make the video viral and increase the share.

    ♥    Click-Through-Rate (CTR)

When someone searches for your keywords on YouTube, what results will they click on? Is your video or someone else’s?

YouTube pays close attention to user/customer behavior.

The level of users clicking on your results is called a “click-through-rate” (CTR). Of course, this number is as high as possible. In other words, you want YouTube users to click on your video.

If YouTube analytics knows a lot of people click on your video, they will want to rank your video. Simply because your video is useful, and consistent with the intent of the viewer, many people click.

Even if people skip your video, your rankings will drop. The best way to increase CTR is by designing attractive thumbnails and titles.

♥    Thumbs up / Thumbs down

This part is obvious. Thumps up and thumps down show the reaction of the user (customer) when watching the video.

And of course, thumps up to show that users are really interested, and click like your video. And the thumps down, on the contrary, are not happy with the quality and information the video brings.

Therefore, user reaction will certainly affect the ranking of videos appearing on YouTube.

    ♥    Video length

Like a text-based Google post, the longer the YouTube video ranks, the better. And the actual data proves that.

Studying the factors that influence YouTube rankings shows that long videos have an advantage over short videos (at least for YouTube SEO).

For example, if you search for the keyword “WordPress” on YouTube, the first 2 videos are both 1 hour long.

So how long should the video be?

I will not overly impose this number. Instead, focus on making your own best video possible.

If your video is longer than 20 minutes, don’t worry. If it is, then the user/customer will automatically see it.

The interesting point is that you can track all these metrics in YouTube Studio. This way, you can know what you are doing and what you should do to improve the video.

After creating a high-retention video. Now it’s time to upload and optimize YouTube SEO video standards.

SEO YouTube Videos effectively to Top YouTube

State your target keyword. As you probably know, YouTube is now able to automatically transcribe video quite correctly.

Therefore, when YouTube recognizes that you have mentioned the target keyword in the video. They will better understand the topic of the video.

Where do you think the target keyword should be inserted?

3 places you should insert keywords to optimize your video:

    ♦    Video title

The video title should be at least 5 words long. As a result, you can write titles that contain entire keywords without having to stuff them up.

Good tip: Like a blog post, you can do better with SEO YouTube if you put keywords at the beginning of the title.

    ♦    Video description

The video description is very important.

The video description supports YouTube and Google understands the context of the video better. From there your rank will be higher. And you will appear in the Suggested Video bar more often.

Here are some basic guidelines for inserting a target keyword into the description:

Use keywords for the first 25 words

Description for at least 250 words

Repeat the keyword 2-4 times

The standard SEO description will tell Google and YouTube what your video is about. Be careful not to insert keywords too many times. Do not let it look like spam.

    ♦    Tags

Tag is not the most important factor, but it is very useful.

I used 3 tags for the video as follows:

  • The first tag is my YouTube channel name
  • And the second tag is my business name
  • The 3rd tag is the exact name of the target keyword (Example: SEO YouTube)

Also, you can use tags in other ways:

  • The first tag is the video’s exact target keyword (Example: SEO YouTube)
  • The second tag is a variation of that keyword (Example: YouTube SEO standard optimization)
  • Finally, add tags on the topic of the videos that are available. (Example: “Link building”, “Content marketing”)

In short, just add a few keywords to support YouTube and Google to identify your video topic.

Important note:

Tagging with the target keyword not only helps you to rank for the target keyword. It also helps you appear in related videos on YouTube more often.

Do not be afraid to use the same tag as the opponent. When the video someone is watching has the same tag as your video, you will be added to the sidebar.

That’s all you need to know to SEO your YouTube videos. Now is the last step and also the step that many people overlook – Promote the video.

Promote effective YouTube videos

I talk a lot about how to create videos with high audience retention and provide the best user experience. Actually, every factor is important.

But for YouTube to measure these criteria, you need to get views for the video first.

Here are some viewing strategies for your videos:

♣    Mention your videos on Quora and other Q&A sites

Quora, forums, and question-and-answer pages are popular sites on the web. However, beware.

If you go here and only post spam, you will be immediately locked out.

That’s why you want to link to YouTube videos. So, you not only increase the number of views but the views coming from the question and answer page are very quality. In other words, high-retention view.

Think of this:

You post videos where people need information on a topic. So, viewers of one of your videos will watch more videos to know more about the subject.

To be able to do so, you only need to find keywords that describe the video topic. Then find questions related to that keyword that you can answer. When finding the right question, answer it as accurately as possible. Finally, the link below is the answer.

♣    Link to your video in the email signature

The people who write emails for you must be very interested and expect to receive interaction from you. Every week I receive a lot of emails from subscribers and people who follow my blog posts and videos.

They have some questions or simply review or comment.

And if you also receive the same email. This is also a way for you to support them to update the latest useful videos from you. Therefore, attach the latest video link to the email signature to attract more people to click. Not to mention that these views are high-retention views (quality views).

♣    Embed videos in a blog post

Whenever you write a blog post (on your personal page, or guest post on another site). Think about where you can embed a YouTube video in the article. This immediately helps you get more high-quality views.

♣    How to SEO playlist YouTube

Has your video been categorized into different playlists? Certainly, YouTube does not automatically help you classify or group related videos together. That is your mission.

YouTube playlist is one of the best ways to increase views for videos. The playlist automatically runs all videos on the playlist, thereby helping to increase thousands of views every month.

The details are as follows:

  • Step 1: See the videos you have.
  • Step 2: Find 4-5 videos with the same topic.
  • Step 3: Create a playlist.
  • Step 4: Add playlists to your YouTube channel.

For example, when reviewing videos posted, I found that there were videos related to “link building“. I group these videos into a useful playlist of link building. And add playlists to my YouTube channel.

Repeat until your channel has at least 3 playlists.

    ♣    Optimize your channel page

A well-optimized YouTube channel helps rank videos better because:

  • Your channel will rate itself on YouTube.
  • Well, optimized channel page results in more subscribers and views. That indirectly improves your rankings.

But above all you want your channel page to be complete and professional. Remember to add keywords to the “About” section – the channel description.

Assuming the YouTube channel doesn’t have a channel description, what are you waiting for – Write content for this “About” section.

For example, my YouTube channel specializes in sharing about SEO. Of course, in the channel description, I also have to be connected to the SEO topic already.

Obviously, you will want to provide enough information and not keyword stuffing. Scatter the keywords you want to rank as naturally as possible.
